        On September 11, 2008, in the days preceding the convocation of the UN General Assembly meeting, Executive Intelligence Review and the Schiller Institute in Copenhagen held a diplomatic seminar entitled, “Now is the Time for a Just New World Economic Order.” During the seminar, we presented the danger of a full collapse of the international financial system. We urged nations to call for establishing such a just new world economic order, from the speaker’s podium of the UN, in the form of a New Bretton Woods financial system, in the spirit of Franklin D. Roosevelt, as proposed by the American economist and former Democratic presidential pre-candidate Lyndon LaRouche. This would solve the financial crisis, and, finally, create the conditions for economic development of the poorer nations of the world.

        Though some may have thought that our warnings were exaggerated, the events since the bankruptcy of the U.S. investment bank Lehman Brothers, have shown that, indeed, the financial system is collapsing. The attempts to sacrifice important functions of society by spending massive amounts of tax money to buy up the trillions of dollars of speculative financial toxic waste, is as unworkable as it is immoral. We must put the current system through bankruptcy reorganization, write off the speculative paper values, and create a new credit system, to finance long-term infrastructure projects and the modernization of the physical production of the world.

       An agreement amongst four big powers – the U.S., Russia, China, and India, are needed to initiate such a new Bretton Woods credit system, which other nations would then join. The biggest question is whether the incoming presidency of Barack Obama will lead to a real change in U.S. policy to enable this to happen. Mr. LaRouche, and his associates in the U.S., are actively working to create such a shift, by organizing the large apparatus around the President – the institution of the presidency.

       The nightmare of the international financial elite, centered in the City of London, is for just such a four-power agreement to become a reality, putting the general welfare before financial interests. As before in history, destabilization of especially these powers, is on their agenda, including the danger of an assassination of President-elect Obama, and strong indications that the recent terror attack in Mumbai, India, which is destabilizing both India and Pakistan, had connections to terrorists operating out of Great Britain.
