Press Conference: Thursday, April 30, at 11:00 a.m. at the International Press Center The Only Solution for the Meltdown of the Global Financial and Economic System: LaRouche's Bankruptcy Reorganization and New Bretton Woods Credit System Speaker: Helga Zepp-LaRouche, founder and international chairman of The Schiller Institute, chairman of the German political party Civil Rights Movement Solidarity (Bürgerrechtsbewegung Solidaritët, BüSo), and wife of the American economist and former U.S. Democratic Party presidential candidate Lyndon LaRouche. Helga Zepp-LaRouche and Lyndon LaRouche are leading an international political campaign to make clear that the world is not facing a recession, or a depression, but a breakdown of the global speculation-bloated financial system, with terrible consequences for every nation, unless political leaders and concerned citizens act to: 1) put ailing banks and the current financial system through bankruptcy reorganization (writing off speculative financial instruments like derivatives), and, 2) establish a New Bretton Woods credit system to build up the productive economy. A four-power agreement between the U.S., Russia, China and India, can initiate such a new credit system, which other nations would then join. The results of the recent G-20 summit meeting, with President Obama's unfortunate complicity, were an attempt to prolong the death agony of the current system through a hyperinflationary bail-out policy, designed to protect the very financial actors who have exacerbated the crisis, rather than protect the general welfare of the population. Instead, governments and private citizens ought to heed the advice of Lyndon LaRouche, a physical economist who specializes in how to create real physical economic growth, not monetarist bubbles, whose authority is based on being the most successful current long-range economic forecaster, having made a series of nine correct forecasts since 1956, including his 1996 forecast of an upcoming collapse of the international financial system, rather than economists who maintain that no one could have foreseen this crisis.
