Messages from the Schiller Institute and LaRouche Movement to Yemen’s “First BRICS Day Conference”
Nov. 23, 2021 (EIRNS)—From Helga Zepp-LaRouche:
Your Excellency Prime Minister Saleh bin Habtour; Your Excellency Mr. Hisham Sharaf, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Yemen, a good friend of the Schiller Institute; Dear Members of the Yemeni BRICS Youth Parliament and its Chairman Mr. Fouad Al-Ghaffari:
Ladies and gentlemen who are gathered in the Capital of Yemen, Sanaa, I send you the most heartfelt greetings from Germany!
We are fully aware of the tremendous strain you are under as a result of the criminal blockade, which, as long as it continues, means that all this talk in the West about a “rules-based-order” is worse than meaningless. Because if they condone, de facto, this blockade, they condone the result—which is the death and suffering of a very large number of [the] Yemeni people! You have been incredibly courageous and inspiring for all members of the Schiller Institute around the world, by not giving up your fight to have a better future for your country and the world!
In these days, the New Silk Road launched by President Xi Jinping will have its 8th anniversary and the role of the BRICS in the world has increased to become a more and more influential element in world history. I am sure that Yemen will be an important part of it in the not-so-distant future , and [that] your organization will have been the decisive element in having accomplished that, and in that way reconnecting the glorious history of Yemen with a hopeful future.
The Schiller Institute has launched “Operation Ibn Sina,” which is to bring modern health systems to Yemen, Afghanistan, and Syria and as a synonym, to have a renaissance of the period, when your region of the world carried the torch of universal progress for all of mankind.
I also like to [recall] how proud my late husband, Lyndon LaRouche, was of your unchanging industriousness for study of his scientific method, and I would like to encourage you to expand it, and make sure that it will have entry into the education system of your country. Yemen will be the birthplace of many geniuses, which will transform humanity into becoming truly human.
The old paradigm, a world divided by geopolitical aggression and the rule of a few over the many, is clearly coming to an end, and the new paradigm of cooperation, and a dialogue of cultures is becoming stronger and stronger. We join with you, and an increasing number of countries and forces in the effort to bring this change about, and give you the solemn promise, that we will always remain your true comrades-in-arms, until you have gained the sovereignty of Yemen, and are truly free.
With great affection, in the name of the entire international Schiller Institute, Helga Zepp-LaRouche
From Jacques Cheminade :
Your Excellency Prime Minister Saleh bin Habtour! Your Excellency Mr. Hisham Sharaf, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Yemen; Members of the Yemen BRICS Youth Parliament, and Chairman Mr. Fouad Al-Ghaffari; Ladies, Gentlemen and Friends of the Schiller Institute, who gathered in the capital of Yemen, I salute all of you from France on this occasion.
My heart is with you in Sana’a. I fully support your fight for independence and justice, to fend off the foreign aggression and evil economic blockade launched against the very life of your people.
Since you are gathered today at the Medical Emergency College, I would like to inform you that our French party, Solidarité et Progrès, fully supports Yemen’s commitment for peace and international cooperation, along the lines of the Belt and Road Initiative. We are with you in your fight to place Yemen along the New Silk Road, in the tradition of the incense and gum route.
The Schiller Institute has launched cooperation with all countries in an Operation Ibn Sina to bring a modern health system to all the nations of the world, and first, to care for people in Yemen, Afghanistan and Syria, the most criminally and unjustly sanctioned by the Western ruling oligarchy. It is time that the nations of the world realize the incredible suffering that the abominable geopolitical wars have created, and replace them with a policy of entente, détente, and coopération: As Charles de Gaulle said, a policy of peace through common, shared economic development. Peace and reconstruction has care, and the right to eat one’s fill is the first of all human rights, and it is fully due to all of you.
We follow closely your admirable work with the youth, giving them knowledge and beauty, and a vision of a better future. You have, here, your youth, and we take your youth into our hearts. We admire the commitment to study the wise ideas of Lyndon LaRouche, who himself appreciated the commitment of the Yemen youth, of you, to learn how to build a better future.
We remain fully on your side, to win the peace, independence and common prosperity of your nation. Your future embodies the future, and not only of your region, not only of your country, but of the whole world.
I look now at the pictures of your young men and women: I am inspired. I am inspired by the moral courage and joyful human commitment, despite all odds, despite the horrors of the war. My heart with all of you in Yemen, with all of you.—Jacques Cheminade, Solidarité et Progress
From Hussein Askary:
Your Excellency Prime Minister of Yemen Dr. Abdulaziz Saleh bin Habtour, Your Excellency Engineer Hisham Sharaf, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Yemen, Sisters and brothers in the Yemen BRICS Youth Parliament and its Chairman, my brother Fouad Al-Ghaffari, Ladies and Gentlemen who are gathered in the capital of steadfastness Sanaa,
I salute the steadfast and resilient people of Yemen from the Swedish capital Stockholm. I wish I could be with you now in Sanaa to share with you this magnificent celebration which is another proof that the resolve of the Yemeni youth does not bend under whatever pressure, and that the legendary Yemeni wisdom remains a beacon that lights the path in front of us towards a better future, towards peace, love and progress.
I have been honored in the past years with working with the BRICS youth and follow closely their diligence and their enthusiasm despite the continued evil aggression and criminal economic blockade which is imposed on all the people of Yemen. But what has been the uttermost source of joy for me and what made me double my engagement to end this aggression and blockade is my work as a representative of the Schiller Institute together with the BRICS youth in 2018 to design the study for the reconstruction of Yemen and integrating it with the Belt and Road Initiative / New Silk Road. [Slide 1: Fouad speaking at event] We were assisted by the Yemeni General Investment Authority and its vice-chairman Engineer Khaled Sharafaddin. [Slide 2: Cover of Operation Felix] The fruit of our joint work was “Operation Felix: The Happy Miracle of the Reconstruction of Yemen.” I learned very much about Yemen while working on this study. [Slide 3: Map of Yemen with development corridors] I could even imagine myself wandering all over its territories, from the mountains of Saada and Sanaa to Aden. And the shores of Al-Hudaida and Mokha. From Taiz to the eternal Maarib and to Al-Mukalla, Tarim, and Al-Ghaida.
Yemen is, ladies and gentlemen, a treasure and a gift to the world, its people, history, natural wealth and geographical location [Slide 4: Map of the World Land-Bridge with Yemen at its heart] as a bridge between the oceans and continents. It combines the confluence of the Economic Belt of the Silk Road with the Maritime Silk Road of the Twenty-first Century.
Brother Fouad Al-Ghaffari and his team recognized very early the importance of the Belt and Road Initiative when China launched it in 2013 and the role of the BRICS nations in charting the path to a new paradigm in the world to replace the failed current world order. Therefore, the victory over this war of aggression and blockade and the building of peace all over the country was first achieved in the minds and imagination of these youth. And it will be achieved, by the will of God, on the solid ground of reality.
One of the most beautiful memories, which I will carry with me for the rest of my life, is when a group of young students from Yemen sent a symbolic gift to our conference in Germany in 2018 [Slide 5: Helga-Zepp LaRouche and Hussein Askary holding posters with Lyndon LaRouche in the middle] which featured the Sustainable Development Goals 2030 with our late teacher Lyndon LaRouche’s “Metrics of Development” added on top of them. This was one of the happy moments of LaRouche in the last months of his life.
The bridge between past generations, present generations and future generations is built upon pillars of ideas that are eternal and indestructible. Preserving and immortalizing nations and civilizations is done by taking the most beautiful aspects of the past and enriching them, then handing them over to the coming generations who will carry the mission further into the future. This was one of the thoughts of the great German philosopher and poet Friedrich Schiller.
Dear sisters and brothers, I promise you, as did Mrs. Helga Zepp-LaRouche earlier today, to stand with you and the people of Yemen, as we have done since the first day of the war of aggression until it is stopped, and the blockade lifted. And we will stand with you, if God wills, when you rebuild your country.
I am impatiently waiting for the day when the blockade imposed on the Airport of Sanaa is lifted, so I can visit the Happy Yemen (Arabia Felix) and be among you in person. I wish your First BRICS Day conference all the success! Your brother, Hussein Askary
From Diane Sare:
To Your Excellency Prime Minister Dr. Abdul Aziz Saleh bin Habtour and Your Excellency Foreign Minister Hisham Sharaf, Mr Fouad Al Ghaffari and all members of the Yemeni BRICS Youth Cabinet;
As a longtime associate of the late Lyndon LaRouche, and as a candidate for U.S. Senate, I would like to congratulate you on the seventh anniversary of your sublime action in choosing to create an association dedicated to the advancement of the people of Yemen, and humanity, through the study of LaRouche’s method, and commitment to join a chorus of nations in China’s Belt and Road Initiative.
As an American, I am amazed and inspired by your generosity and universal thinking, when it would have been so easy to succumb to bitterness and despair when your nation has been subjected to the most cruel policies imaginable, in part at the hands of my own government. I would like to express the solidarity of all American members of LaRouche’s International Caucus of Labor Committees with your efforts.
We in the United States are suffering from another kind of oppression, which may prove to be more deadly if we don’t overcome it, which is a deep cynicism about our leaders and our fellow Americans, which prevents our people from rejecting the selfish small-mindedness which inhibits urgently needed action to reverse several decades of destructive, and even genocidal policies.
Your work serves both as a light of inspiration and also a spur to our conscience, that we cannot give up until the United States of John Quincy Adams, Abraham Lincoln, Martin Luther King, and Lyndon LaRouche is restored, and becomes a true friend of Yemen, of China, and of mankind as a whole.—Diane Sare, Independent Senate Candidate, New York
From Doug and Marsha Malluck:
GREETINGS FROM AMERICA TO THE BRICS CONFERENCE IN SANAA
As US citizens, we are appalled, ashamed, angered by the despicable support being mustered by our government for the ongoing British-Saudi colonialist aggression against the people and nation of Yemen. Among other crimes, it represents a complete betrayal of everything decent in the tradition of the once-noble American Republic.
However, the word “inspired” is just not strong enough to describe our reaction to your event, very appropriately timed to coincide with the eighth anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative. Lesser men and women might not have even dared to stage such a conference under the adverse circumstances in which you find yourselves.
But your courage and vision opens up the potential, not only to resist evil, but even more, to accomplish tangible, positive good—uplifting your people through the power of human reason.
May your conference be a total success, nothing less than an exemplar for the entire world!—Doug and Marsha Mallouk
